Bold Colours & Whispers of Healing

Annamarie lives in Norfolk UK. She is a self taught artist, leaning on creative passions from her childhood and using art as a bridge between her stories.

Drawn to bold palettes and utterly embracing colour dominance, Annamarie gravitates towards portraiture and ethereal and abstracted landscapes, and has a very definable style in her use of strong features and colours across her work.

Unflinchingly honest in her work. Annamarie has never shied away from the truth of her own stories, and regularly paints and writes metaphorical depictions of her own childhood trauma, her survival against unfavourable odds, and the lifelong emotional search for healing and peace. Her journey, much like her art, is an ever-evolving narrative—never quite complete, always reaching for deeper meaning.

She is a dreamer, and a deeply empathic soul who connects with her environment on an energetic level, often needing space and time to process and continue her journey of healing.

In these moments - she paints.

Legacy, motherhood, and time for self

Annamarie spent the first half of her career working with some of societies most vulnerable and forgotten children, those she could connect deeply with. She has supported hundreds of children to feel valued, respected, and in 2019 Annamarie was accepted to deliver a TedTalk on the impact of school exclusion, leaning on her own experiences as a child with trauma based behaviours. Sadly, the Covid pandemic shut the talk down and Annamarie’s direction turned unexpectedly, leaving the talk tucked away in the drawer of forgotten dreams.

One day in 2023, after a gap spanning more than a decade, Annamarie picked up a paintbrush again and found herself being pulled back to creativity, and towards the person she perhaps would have been were it not for the circumstances of her childhood.

Less than a year later two of her pieces were chosen for an exhibition in London, then in Norfolk, and now she sells works and prints internationally.

She approaches a new chapter of her life, the crone years, the youngsters of the nest now replaced with young adults ready to branch into their own worlds, and for the first time in her life, she has a real sense of building something, just for herself.
